Beginner Workouts –Where do I Start
Saturday, September 13th, 2008
When you haven’t worked out in a long time a big problem I see is that people start out to fast. Their pumped up to start working out again their feeling good. So instinctively, they want to get a good workout in so they go all out.
There’s one major problem with this, it’s that they get so sore or worse get injured, that they don’t come back to workout any time soon. I’ve seen it happen to many times and I strongly advise against it.
How do I start my workouts?
A good workout should start with eating the right foods. A pre-workout snack should consist of a simple carbohydrate and some protein and avoid fats because they cause stomach problems. Consume your snack in between 1 hour and 15 minutes before your workout.
Your first few workouts should consist of 12 repetition resistance training exercises for all major muscle groups in the combined workouts. I suggest doing machine workouts and adding a little stability exercises into your workout because this will allow your muscles to adapt to the exercises and also reduce the chance of injury.
The key is to start out light for cardiovascular and resistance training exercises a half hour is long enough for the first few workouts.
Welcome back!
